Aisin Corporation – Stratford

Maple Reinders was selected by Aisin Canada to design and construct a major expansion to its injection moulding facility in Stratford, Ontario. Aisin Canada is part of the Toyota Group and is a leading global automotive supplier.

Following a comprehensive procurement process, Maple was chosen to deliver the project. The award further strengthens Maple’s relationship with one of its largest automotive clients.

The approximately 145,000-square-foot expansion will increase Aisin Canada’s manufacturing and storage capacity. It will support current operations while providing space for future growth across North America.

The Stratford facility houses injection moulding and assembly equipment used to produce sunroof systems. These systems are supplied for Toyota vehicles assembled in Cambridge and Woodstock.

The expansion includes both heavy and light manufacturing areas. The heavy manufacturing space features reinforced and thickened concrete slabs designed to support injection moulding equipment. The light manufacturing area will support assembly operations. New high-bay storage will also provide additional space for finished goods.

Maple is also expanding Aisin’s existing office and employee areas. The project will double the size of the current office space and add a new cafeteria, meeting room, washrooms and other support spaces.

Careful planning and coordination were important throughout construction. A large amount of excavated material had been stockpiled on the property during construction of the original facility. This material needed to be removed to make way for the new expansion. Maple coordinated the removal while maintaining progress across the site.

The expanded facility now provides Aisin Canada with additional capacity to support ongoing production for Toyota and gives the company greater flexibility to pursue new opportunities with automotive manufacturers across North America.
