We’re living in a world that’s under reconstruction. Many structures built fifty to one hundred years ago – everything from buildings to roads and bridges – need to be rehabilitated or completely reconstructed. This is also true of infrastructure such as dams and hydroelectric plants.
Maple Reinders’ roots are in marine construction and, through more than 50 years of experience, we have become leaders in the design and construction of waterway and hydroelectric structures, including the rehabilitation work we are currently undertaking on Ontario’s Historic Trent-Severn Waterway, a major network of approximately 160 operable dams and water control structures that traverses 386km through Ontario.

Whether we’re working on a dam, hydroelectric or other waterway structure, each project is unique, so it’s not possible to use one general design or methodology for all sites. Maple Reinders takes the time to create a custom plan for each project to reconstruct the site in the most efficient way possible, with an acute understanding of the critical factors that determine success.

Waterway Structures and Hydro Power
MR was awarded the project by Trent University to redevelop the Stanley Adamson Generating Station.
The contractor for the upgrades to the existing dam and powerhouse for Bracebridge Generation Ltd. with WSP Group Inc. completing the detailed design.
The overall project goal is to repair or replace assets in poor condition with similar structures while maintaining important cultural and heritage elements of the original construction.
