This project included a two-storey 34,300 SF expansion to the existing school, including a new wing with eight new classrooms, a new gymnasium with a suspended running track, four new change rooms, fitness area, aerobics and wrestling studio, a gym foyer area, and a new elevator in the existing atrium.
The building features an impressive collection of high end finishes throughout such as an arched cedar wood ceiling and interior brick veneer in the gymnasium, foyer, and change rooms, sprung wood gym flooring, marble tiled washrooms with glass shower stalls and custom cabinetry locker rooms.
In addition to the expansion and interior finishes, Maple Reinders also performed exterior renovations to the fire route and expanded parking capacity, refurbished the existing pond, constructed a dual-purpose concrete parking lot/tennis court, and a 1,400 SF external storage building for caretaking of the property and sports field.
Maple Reinders has a long and proud relationship with King’s Christian Collegiate, completing three previous phases of construction covering Phase 1, the initial construction of the school, Phase 2 expansion, and Phase 3 music conservatory.
Maple Reinders was contracted to Design-Bid-Build a 35,000 SF curvilinear building, which included operable windows, a raised access floor with personal air control devices, flow-through air pattern circulation; as well as warm and inviting interior finishes to add to the level of human comfort for occupants.
