Work on this project involved an addition to Conestoga’s existing and occupied freezer facility, including a 23,000 SF staging area addition as well as 20,000 SF high-rise freezer addition standing at 110’ high. The freezer area allows for an additional 7,000 pallets for storing product while the staging area is for the loading docks with four overhead doors and a shipping office.
Work on this project had to be completed while the rest of the facility remained fully operational. Other special features of construction included:
Pouring of a 30” deep concrete raft slab to support racking
Placing of hundreds of anchor bolts with tight tolerances for racking base plates
Structural support for the high-rise freezer is by the racking
Insulated panels installed directly to structural racking at 110’
Installation of a fully automated robotic “picking system” on a super-flat monorail
