Maple Reinders completed a Design-Build contract for the construction of a new 144,000 SF, three-storey ultra-modern self-storage facility for Public Storage in Vaughan, Ontario. This facility includes a retail office, loading docks, elevator lobby, superior security and amenities such as bi-parting entrance and exit gates and a sliding glass loading door into the elevator lobby.
The facility is entirely geared to be a modern and safe building, targeting and blending with the specific demographics and atmosphere of the neighbourhood. All interior and exterior lighting are LED, including motion sensors within all storage unit corridors that turn lights on when the corridor is occupied, and turn lights off after 30 minutes to conserve energy. The site was landscaped to make it visually appealing, with the main entrance and retail office area facing the Romina Drive entrance.
A covered loading dock was provided, including a large loading area with two 5,000 lb capacity, holeless hydraulic elevators to access the second and third stories. A rainwater infiltration feature was also installed to ensure that groundwater infiltration rates are not diminished by the increased hardscaped areas.
